Managing and navigating family law and family services for those going through divorce or separation is very difficult. This glossary is a place to make sense of some of the options and choices you need to make in order to see your children or non-resident family members. This will be added to with signposting and please check out our blogs for more useful information.

  • A centre specifically designed for children and their non-resident family to come together.

  • It is the actual engagement between the child and the non-resident family.

  • The person whom the child lives with most of the time.

  • The person who the child does not live with.

  • An order from the court for a non-resident to be allowed to see a child.

  • “Mediation is a process that allows families to negotiate future arrangements for their children with the assistance of a neutral third party” - Child Law Advice.

  • A person who is trained to help people who are at a mental, physical, economic, or social disadvantage.

  • A report written by our team about the family time.

  • A request for our services in helping to arrange child contact.

  • A government run organisation such as a council or social services.

  • Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service.

  • National Association of Child Contact Centres.
